CITIZEN COMPLAINT TOTAL ABANDON "PALATINE COMPLEX AND NEIGHBORHOOD SAN ESTEBAN ANDALUSÍ "BY THE AUTHORITIES

The Civic Platform for the Defence of the Archaeological Heritage of San Esteban, expressed his indignation at the statements made yesterday by the Director General of Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage and Enrique Ujaldón contradict what he himself published on Tuesday 9 on the actions to be taken at the site of San Esteban.

In his first statement said that would begin maintenance, resumption of excavation, consolidation and enhancement of the archaeological and yesterday committed a troubling contradiction to say that the reservoir would be buried for 1 year with geotextile material, totally incompatible with keeping the site alive as it was his intention expressed in these same statements. Burying the site, without having consolidated before debris and moisture accumulated over the months of rain, would destroy the site permanently.

At the same time declared musealization have a draft. Unable to perform the museological project, which seems to be already materialized without prior consultation with experts and citizens, without excavating and consolidating and without a public tender for this purpose.

Enrique Ujaldón The Director General and Councillor for Culture Fátima Barnuevo lied when they declared that there could be damage "not earth-shattering" in the field. In response to these claims, the Civic Platform has prepared a dossier which graphically tested severely damaged in the strata of the neighborhood. This report is being disseminated among professionals, institutions and individuals sensitive to heritage protection and through our website.

The damage caused by the rains, which would not have occurred have protected the site, are the result of carelessness and negligence of Local and Regional Authorities. These Authorities have all legal, technical, economic and human resources to carry out an effective protection through tents or any other means.

Given the current state of neglect in which the site lies and the damage that the rains have caused many of the structures, the Civic Platform maintains the following claims:

1. Immediate action for the effective protection of the Deposit: We must continue the excavation, led by current technical directors (Alfonso Robles and José Sánchez Pravia) should immediately consolidate and protect what has already been dug to protect it until its value and must carry out urgent actions covering with tents or other systems that archaeological coaches decide.

2 The General Directorate of Fine Arts and Cultural Rights provides legal mechanisms to take protective measures for the protection and conservation of the site, having started the record opening of a Cultural regardless of ownership of the land, as a mark Cultural Heritage Law Murcia Region 3

Murcia City Council should have applied the Emergency Treatment of the Act states that public sector contracts, which includes the possibility of ordering the execution of measures without obligation to conduct administrative record

This Platform not hesitate to take measures within its power to assume the protection of the site, which the public administration to relinquish. CONTACT NUMBERS
